My father and mother came to America, from Switzerland, in 1950. They purchased an 80 acre farm in Hartford, Wisconsin. My dad found farming to be very hard work with little return. So, in the 60's my dad began roofing barns for other farmers in the area. Since I was very young I helped on the farm. I started helping my dad roof barns when I was 12 years old.

In 1997 I started my own roofing company, Wenger Construction. This is truly a family business, with all 3 of my sons working with me as well as my wife, Laurie and my daughter-in-law. We have a great group of about 15 employees, many of whom have been with Wenger Construction since we started.

We have recently expanded into architectural sheet metal. We have a state of the art sheet metal shop with a computerized auto-brake and a power shear. Our growth is a direct result of our attention to high quality work and high level of customer service.

Our goal is to become the best roofing and sheet metal subcontractor in Wisconsin in all areas: safety, quality, customer satisfaction, employee moral, and many more. We are a family business dedicated to excellence.

The past year has been a year of expansion for WCI. Jake, my oldest son, was determined to achieve the status of a full service roofing company. There was one aspect that we were missing and that was flat roofing. Through a lot of work on Jake's part that dream became a reality in the spring of 2008. At that time, we opened a second office in New Berlin and hired Rick Laufenberg who has many years of experience in the flat roofing industry and in sales. Along with Rick, we also hired an experienced crew of flat roofers.

My other two sons who previously worked in the field full-time have been promoted to division managers. Craig is now supervising our sheet metal and siding crews and Nick is supervising our shingling division.

At the present, we are diversified in shingle and membrane roofing, architectural sheet metal, metal roofing and fiber cement siding.

Going forward in this present economy is going to be very challenging as we all know.

I feel confident that with our solid core of experienced and dedicated employees and our positive attitude management we will be able to become an even stronger company in the years ahead.
